What a difference after the midweek debacle at Doncaster. This was great team performance witnessed by a sizeable following from Bradford.

City clinched their first away win of the season, coming from behind to deservedly take the points at Lincoln.

The Claret and Amber balloons were floating high in the Away stand as supporters of both Lincoln and Bradford added their own emotional vocals to the song ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. The minutes silence followed and even the noise from passing traffic seemed stop. Wreaths were laid in front of The Stacey West Stand by representatives from various supporters groups and Bradford City football club in tribute to the fire victims.

Match Report.

City started the game with a spring in their step forcing Marriott, the Lincoln keeper, into action on several occasions early on. Both sides were playing good flowing football, with Lincoln’s Danny N’Guessan lightning runs causing City all sorts of problems down the left wing.

With the crowd clearly enjoying the early exchanges in Banter what followed was farcical.

City fell behind in the 26th minute to a controversial strike by Louis Dodds. Donovan Ricketts thought he had kept out the shot after a goalmouth scramble but assistant referee Geoff Law ruled that the ball had crossed the line.

I had a clear view from pitch side and the ball didn’t cross the line but that’s football for you and the goal was given.

Lincoln 1 Bradford 0

The celebrations were deafening when City drew level nine minutes later after a pulsating run by Omar Daley set up Ndumbu-Nsungu for the second goal of his loan spell.

Half Time Lincoln 1 Bradford 1

The second half was just as good for entertainment mainly in the Lincoln’s half it must be said although Lee Frecklington did hit the post for Lincoln midway through the second half. City kept pressing for a winner and achieved it when Colbeck finished off a lightning counter-attack after great play from Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu.

Colbeck’s goal sent the Bantam faithful wild. With full time approaching the final incident of the game had City fans wondering if there could be a late equaliser when Lincoln were awarded a free kick just outside the box but this time the ball was cleared up field to safety.

Cue end of game Celebrations.

Final Score Lincoln 1 Bradford 2

great report Conlon The Barbarian, I was sat at home ‘writing my dissertation’ and pressing F5 continually on the BBC website! Maybe the impatient sections of the crowd will be placated. Extending the unbeaten home run is the next objective!
