Chris Brandon to join his hero?

This summer there might be more substance to this rumour than is normally the case after Stan Ternant released the 32 year old citizen of Bradford.

Because of his affection for his home town club and his stated desire to play for the Bantams, Chris Brandon’s name has often come up during the summer transfer silly season.

And whilst it may be that we are unable to offer him the wages he deserves the opportunity to join a player he idolised as a youngster might prove enough to bring him to Valley Parade to fill one of the holes in Stuart’s midfield for next season.

What’s important is that Chris Brandon seems open to the idea as he spoke to the Telegraph & Argus saying ‘I’m open to offers at the moment and I’d be happy to talk to Bradford if they are interested’.

A Huddersfield Town supporting friend of mine had been thrilled when their caretaker boss had built the team around Chris Brandon thereby making them a side to watch. His release without kicking a ball in anger will no doubt have dismayed him and other Huddersfield fans.

Obviously it has left the player in a certain amount of limbo but as his agent has been ‘contacted by about a dozen clubs, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens’.
