Bradford City have released winger Ben Muirhead and five other fringe players.

Second string keeper Russell Howarth plus John Swift, Joe Brown, Patrick McGuire and Nick Smith have all been told they are surplus to requirements.

But Craig Bentham, Joe Colbeck, Simon Ainge and Tom Penford will definitely stay at Valley Parade.

And no decision has been made on Steve Schumacher, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Richard Edghill and Xavier Barrau.

David Wetherall told the Telegraph & Argus:
‘The situation is complicated because we don’t know who will be in charge and what their budget will be.’

Of the recent crop of loan players, the Bantams have made it known that they would be interested in striking new deals with Billy Paynter and Spencer Weir-Daley.
