Hul boss Phil Brown has confirmed he will offer a contract to loan star Dean Windass.

The 38-year-old striker still has two years left on his deal at Bradford City.

But Hull want him to stay after his eight goals all but secured the club’s Championship status.

Brown told TeamTalk: ‘Deano is writing his own script and he’s probably writing his own contract.

‘Not many can carry on playing at his age. But he’s that special breed, like Teddy Sheringham.

‘He can play into his 40s. He looks after himself, retains his fitness and his enthusiasm. I’d like to keep him here.’

Windass is one of only seven Bradford City players who are not out of contract this summer – but few fans expected him to return once the Bantams’ relegation to League Two was confirmed.

Brown added: ‘Officially he’s still a Bradford player but we’ve talked to them all the way through and hopefully negotiations will be favourable.’
