Finally we can hear the end of the fifteen points deduction as Leeds United suffered a second Wembley choke since their departure from the Premiership in 2004.
Doncaster Rovers ran out deserved winners in an entertaining game at the National Stadium that has consigned our nearest, and dearest, rivals to a further year in the third tier of English football.
James Hayter’s goal decided an encounter in which despite having much of the possession, the West Yorkshire side never truly threatened Neil Sulivan’s goal.
After a season of being ‘unfairly treated’ because of that fifteen point deduction Leeds and their fans can have no complaints about their failed promotion attempt. Their fate was in their own hands but they couldn’t manage it.
No amount of propaganda from Captain Birds Eye managed to improve the relations between Leeds United and other clubs or governing authorities but fortunately next year we’ll be spared the boredom of hearing Leeds United fans complain about a fifteen point penalty that was, given the rules they broke, a very lenient punishment,
Next season they’ll start on a Eurovisionesque nil points and probably still end up bottling it at the final hurdle.
It will be interesting to see what impact another season in League Two does to the huge following Leeds has enjoyed this season or to the future of manager Gary McAllister or to the financial situation at Elland Road.
Never mind lads, there’s always next year!

Er-Wellers? Wellers? Can you hear me Wellers? Hello? WELLERS!!
Leeds United are STILL in League ONE son! Not League Two. And it`s NIL points next season-and won by February!!
“given the rules they broke..”
So what rules did Leeds United break then?
The “independent” arbitration panel stated that no rules were broken but due to it being too late in the season (and due to FL chairman Lord Haw-Haw intentionally shuffling his feet) the points could not be returned.
The points could not be returned ever because Leeds accepted not to appeal the deduction decision when they were handed back there golden share. Forget that bit? So basically Leeds were not allowed to appeal anyway but decided to do so and moan about it because they are well; Leeds.
ha ha ha I’ve never enjoyed myself so much, used to be big now just big whingers
Speak of your small minded Club in any way you wish Beaky
wooooooooo get you tiny t
Bates is a dodgy *%^&er and whether they broke rules or not, taking them into administration deliberately after they knew they were relegated so he could clear off debts & improve his investments was cynical and verged on bringing the game into disrepute – I’m with CapnBeakey on this on – well I was with him at the time actually & if we hadn’t have been in the Sports Cafe in Leeds risking our lives we would have been laughing our heads off!!
the rules they broke were the ones that should have made the golden share non transferable to the ‘new’ Leeds United. Football League protocol dictates administration must be via a CVA. Leeds didn’t. You saved the money you would have paid creditors to come out the other side debt free but with money to buy players. Your fifteen points were a generous punishment given that you ought to have been denied your golden share and consequently your right to even play in the football league.
Aint that the truth Wellers…Aint that the truth…To think weve heard the last of their moaning is folly…When they miss out on promotion AGAIN this comming season it will all be because of the points the points the points …Yawn…Im with Wellers, they should count their lucky stars a)theyre still have a league registration, and b)They were able to get away with embezzling money to buy the players that nearly got them promoted this season gone…
I am sure this will still be going on and on for years to come. Wait till a few other like Rotherham, Luton and Bournemouth end up with a 15 point penalty.
