Surprise Omissions

Bradford Fans will be kept waiting till Friday before they find out if Stuart McCall will offer Chilean International Striker Willy Topp a contract.
McCall will not field Topp against Huddersfield Reserves tonight at The Galpharm 7-00pm, leaving supporters somewhat bemused by the Chileans absence from the team sheet.
The 21-year-old scored for the reserves against Coventry last week, and looked sharp enough over 45 minutes even though it was his first competitive match for three months.
In my opinion, once Topp builds up his own personal fitness levels, then in theory City could have a real flare player in their ranks. Reports in the local press suggest Topp as impressed both McCall and Jacobs in training over the last few days.
McCall talking to the T&A about Topp said
‘I’ve quite liked what I’ve seen of him as a player and as a person. He doesn’t speak much English but he has learned a lot of words and phrases so he’s obviously trying hard.

‘He wants to come over here and be a success.’

It sounds like Topp my have done just enough to warrant a longer stay with The Bantams.

Craig Bentham and goalkeeper Ben Saynor are other noticeable names missing from a youthful team to play Huddersfield.

i think we’ve got to keep Willy off the record and on the QT until we’re either firmly in for him or definitely not wanting to keep him.

I agree Wellers, sounds promising but then so did a whole host of others, I wonder who they’ve got translating for him

  • Wellers says:

it doesn’t matter so long as they’re talking with the ball. All he needs to know is ‘I’m free’, ‘Man on’ and to know the others’ names. It’s not as though many footballers are exactly poetic in their speech!

  • Conlon The Barbarian says:

Willy didn’t appear to have any problems understanding instructions from the bench last week .Hand signals and a shout of “Billy” now and again from coach John Pepper seemed to work well.

  • CapnBeakey says:

All sounds good to me then – bring him on, Would you sign him Conlon TB?
