Damion Stewart was thrilled after finding the net for the first time in English football in the Bantams crucial win at Bournemouth.
The Jamaica international headed home a Owen Morrison just before the break to help the Bantams to a much needed success.
Stewart, has cemented his place at the heart of the Bantams defence, after waiting patiently for his chance since arriving at Valley Parade last summer.
‘I was waiting for my chance and when it came I was keen to repay the manager for giving me a chance in England,’ he beamed after the final whistle at Dean Court.
‘I’m playing every day now and when you do that you can only get better.’
The combative defender, nicknamed ‘Stew Peas’, celebrated his goal with a dance in the penalty area with City keeper and Jamaica colleague Donovan Ricketts.
‘It was a bit of a Jamaican dance and we have been planning it for some time.’
Stewart is also looking forward to facing England in a friendly in June.
But he added: ‘It’s at the back of my mind. At the moment I’m focussing on trying to make sure Bradford survive in this league.”
he’s a great player and scored his 1st goal. great win today!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed Sundgot. He was very raw to start with and still has a fair bit to learn. But he’s quick, great in the air and what a competitor! One of Todd’s best signings I’d say.
Let’s hope he doesn’t blot his copybook by doing anythin rash against Rooney when England play Jamaica!
