REVEALED: Danny’s drought

Danny Cadamarteri is under pressure to find his shooting boots with Dean Windass still suspended.
But Bradford City fans would do well to consult the record books before pinning their hopes on the 26-year-old striker.
Vital Football has been researching Cads’ career ? and it makes grim reading when it comes to goalscoring.
Amazingly, Danny has never managed to score more than four league goals in a season.
Since bursting onto the scene as a teenager with Everton nine years ago, he has managed just 21 league goals in 116 starts and 85 appearances as substitute.
Even if you add in his four League Cup goals, his career total in all competitions amounts to a paltry 25 ? that’s an average of fewer than three per season.
His most prolific spell was in 1997/98 when he managed four Premiership goals for Everton plus one in the League Cup against Scunthorpe. But even then, all five of those goals came in a five-week purple patch at the start of the season and were followed by a 12-month barren run.
Sadly, scoring droughts have become a familiar part of Danny’s career – his only two goals this season were back in August when the Ashes were still up for grabs.
All of which leads to the conclusion ? should Cadamarteri really be playing up front at all?
Anyone who has seen him play when he is fit and confident knows he clearly has the class to cut it at League One level but somehow Colin Todd has got to work out how to make the most of his obvious talents.
Maybe it’s time to start thinking of him as an attacking midfielder.

Have to agree Vanhala. He just isn’t a goalscorer as far as I’m concerned. He’s more effective played out wide but even then his second touch is always a tackle! Can’t fault his effort since he got his chance but he’s still to convince me that he can help us get out of this division – upwards anyway!
