As the injuries mount up, Joe Colbeck might have some good news with his broken bone keeping him out of proceedings for less than was previously feared.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds the 21 year old said ‘they said three months and I thought that was terrible news.

But because I’m young and fit I should hopefully be back in two months so hopefully I’m looking towards end of December or early January.’

However, the news that Joe Colbeck should hopefully be returning in the new year (the same point in the season that he returned from his invigorating loan spell at Darlington) will come as scant consolation to Stuart McCall who will struggle to name an 18 man side for the FA Cup (why do we get 7 substitutes?)

On the sidelines or struggling with injuries for Saturday’s trip to Milton Keynes are Joe Colbeck (foot), Chris Brandon (ankle), Kyle Nix, Peter Thorne, Paul McLaren, Lee Bullock, Paul Arnison, Paul Heckingbottom and, after Saturday, Dean Furman.

Mark Bower has returned to the fray this morning and it will be interesting to see what back line Stuart chooses for the trip to the Concrete Cows after Saturday’s Jekyll to last Tuesday’s Hyde.

Four less weeks out for Joe Colbeck is definitely something to celebrate as without he or Omar the players struggled and Stuart didn’t seem to know how to respond.

How’s Greame Lee and Paul Arnison doing for you guys?

  • Styhard says:

Lee looks fantastic when the defence plays as a unit and still looks OK when the defence crumbles around him

Arnison looked pretty poor defensively and got in for a bit of stick but was involved in a lot of the good attacking play with clobeck before he got injured and then replaced

    obviously not well enough though……

Lee has been very good, great in the air, a good leader although a bit slow across the ground & been exposed a couple of times but overall a great replacement for Weatherall. Arnison did get off to a slow start but was getting better every game until his injury which was a shame – still a lot better than some of our recent right backs!
