Graeme Lee is Your Captain!

Lee was only brought in this summer, and he’s replacing David Wetherall as Bradford City’s captain.

Graeme does know what it feels like to lift silverware above his head, he did so with the Johnstone’s paint trophy at Doncaster 2 seasons ago, and now he wants to do the same with Bradford, however he realises that it will be no easy job.

Gaffer Stuart McCall praised his leadership qualities along with his veteran approach to the game, similar to the now retired Wetherall.

Lee stated that he was impressed with fellow defender Matt Clarke, and he was reading how the big centre back played. Do i smell a possible alliance?

Lee hopes for a good start to the new campaign, which begins Saturday 9th August, which hopefully will see city promoted to the league 1 as champions.

Haven’t seen him yet but I’ve heard he is a quicker (albeit only slightly) version of Wethers so that’s no bad thing. I suspect it will be Lee & Clarke as 1st choices & Bower will have to wait for injuries/suspension or fight Heckinbottom for the left full back spot.

I saw him play against Burnley and he looked very good, and Matt Clarke was brilliant last season. Should be a good partnership at the back. I also think that Bower should play at left-back instead of Heckingbottom because he has played there before and was better defensively than Heckers and attacked the full-backs well (and that was in League 1).

i think Bower is maybe the more sophisticated defender but Clarkey is exactly what we need in the heart of a league 2 defence. And as much of a hero as Wethers is there’s got to be something invigorating about having a new captain in the side
