The FA are set to contact southend goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan after the player went public over the incident.

The FA initially decided that Windass had no case to answer but are reinvestigating the affair.

A statement from the FA read: ‘Given the lack of conclusive video evidence or evidence provided from the players concerned, there was insufficient basis for any disciplinary action.

‘However, following the latest public comments by Flahavan, the FA has again contacted the player requesting any information he can provide on the matter.

‘The FA received reports of incidents involving Windass and Southend goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan during the match on 9 August, and Bournemouth’s Marcus Browning during the match on 27 August.

‘Flahavan has since incorrectly claimed in the media that he was not contacted by the FA for his testimony.

‘The FA wrote to Flahavan and Southend United on 10 August referring to the alleged incident, asking him to provide a statement if he wished to take this matter further. No response was received.

‘In relation to the alleged incident involving Marcus Browning, the FA again contacted the player and his club. AFC Bournemouth subsequently confirmed that he did not wish to proceed or pursue a complaint.’
