Bradford going up in the world?

And so the season ticket applications continue to pour in.

As a bit of a geek I’ve been tracking sales for the last few weeks and although there has been a slight levelling off from the figures sold demand continues to be incredible. We are now in the sixth week of sales and our weekly average continues to be around 1,000.

With over 7,000 tickets already sold (and a substantial amount of renewals yet to be submitted) the potential is there for a dramatic increase in the size and scale of the Valley Parade support.

However, I for one would have mixed views on opening the top tier of the Sunwin. Clearly from a personal point of view anything that might allow me the opportunity of moving my seats closer to my initially desired location can only be A Good Thing. But I’m pretty stoic about this – if the stadium is full then it won’t matter where I’m sitting. And obviously if demand is such that we need to open the top then so be it.

However, for me these are the only positives. I would rather we opened the Pulse Corner Stand to fill that gap between the Kop and the Sunwin. And I would hate to see people move away from the pitch if they didn’t want to sit in the seats that remain down below. Because the reason we’re having cheap seats is to pack Valley Parade. And create a fortress for Stuart and the lads.

But, like I say, if we need to open them up to cram more Bradford City supporters in then I’m all for it. Brilliant!

one and a half. The Corner between the Sunwin Stand and the Kop has been used on only a few occasions since it was completed. Having never been inside it myself I imagine that the implications for using it might be quite high in terms of staffing and stewarding. The second part of the stadium that is closed off for sale at the moment is the top tier of the Sunwin Stand. We have a capacity of 25,000 – it’s sensible to shut down bits we don’t need to use!
