Stuart McCall was not a happy bunny at half time in Accrington last Saturday. He wasn’t neccesarily chuffed at full time, despite the team’s amazing fightback from 2-0 down to win the game 3-2. Relieved was a better way to put it.

McCall declared City’s performance ‘poor’ after Saturday. However, after watching his team’s performance again he knew he’d been too hard on the Bantams.

‘I was a little frustrated and didn’t give the lads the credit that they deserved, which is why I apologized to the whole team’ said the Gaffer, speaking to the T&A.

Now he is looking ahead to Saturday’s home clash against Gillingham, with a televised match on Sky against Darlington less than 2 days afterwards (Monday evening)

McCall and the boys recently went on a team building trip to a local go-kart track, in order to lift spirits ahead of the 5 games in 15 days that will do a lot to determine how this season will pan out.

I thought we played well in the first half apart from one lack of concentration & probably deserved to go in two goals in front. The second half was dire, pumping long balls into the wind to be headed back with interest by the Stanley defence until that amazing last 10 minutes when we showed what we can do. I’m glad Stu is man enough to admit he was wrong, now we need him to be man enough to admit he has been wrong not to include Billy Topp in his plans so far!

Nice for a Gaffer to admit when he got it wrong.
