The three-nil defeat, which came with us down to 10-men, at Valley Parade means a gap that’s probably too much to close has opened up once more?

A difficult job, against one of the most in-form sides in the country, was made harder when Routis saw red for bringing down Garner when clean through.

Early in the second half Preston made the breakthrough when Beckford went down in the area. Gallagher (47) had his initial penalty scored by Williams but followed up to make it one-nil.

The second came soon after when Johnson (53) effectively ended the game inside 10-minutes of the second half restarting with Humphrey (80) making sure with a fine effort from distance with 10-minutes left.
