Bradford stunned Premier League outfit Wigan at The DW Stadium on Tuesday night, following a draw The Bantams won the penalty shootout to advance in the Capital One Cup.
Wigan, who made almost a full teams worth of changes, thought they had taken an early lead when Ivan Ramis headed home after just 10-minutes, but this was ruled out for offside by the assistant.
Throughout the 90-minutes, and the 30-minutes of extra time played, Wigan had a host of chances but couldn’t convert any. Bradford had a few though so it wasn’t entirely one-way traffic.
With normal time, and extra time, seeing the game end 0-0 this meant a penalty shootout…
As Shaun Maloney blazed over and Jordi Gomez saw Matt Duke save his effort it was Bradford that held their nerve to advance 4-2 in the shootout and take their place in the quarterfinals of the league cup!
