Parkin: A Very Good Point

It’s been a good start to the season, viewed as a ‘stop-start’ week but Bradford remain unbeaten at the start of the 2014/15 season.

Bradford followed up an opening day win with a nil-nil draw at Walsall on Saturday, with a league cup win sandwiched between.

Steve Parkin was responsible for media duties following the draw at the Bescot on Saturday and he was left happy enough with the point, which saw us have to ‘dig deep’ at times.

Parkin also felt that we were perhaps ‘a yard off the pace’ but praised the defensive display, although he also feels that we have perhaps seen that we are still a couple of players light in the squad.

The assistant boss told the media: ‘It was a very good point, but we were a yard off the pace in the first half. In the second half we dug in a bit deeper and they didn’t cause us too many problems. It was a great clean sheet.

‘It’s been a stop-start week for us but very enjoyable to have two wins, then a draw against a really good Walsall side. We were not great going forward but we were excellent defensively.

‘We need to be a bit stronger and we need a couple more players to make the squad very competitive.’

Andrew Davies and Rory McArdle came in for special praise with neither putting ‘a foot wrong’ on the afternoon.
