By eck, it was a bit nippy on Saturday, but did the cold front put a freeze on some ex Bantams, or were any ex City players on fire?

Matt Dolan scored a brace as Newport County drew 3-3 at home to Carlisle United. Dolan has now scored 3 this season. Gary Liddle turned out for the away side with the result leaving the Exiles in 12th in League 2 and United 14th.

Alan Sheehan received a yellow in a top of the table clash as Luton drew at home to Notts County 1-1. Jon Stead failed to add to his tally of 5 goals of the season, with the draw leaving the top 2 the same as before kick off. Luton Town are first in League 2 with a goal difference of +30 whilst County are level on points in 2nd place with a goal difference of +15, both teams on 42 points which is 5 above 3rd placed Accrington Stanley whom have a game in hand.

Jon McLaughlin kept a clean sheet in what ended up as a very important 3 points as Hearts won 1-0 at home to Motherwell. Carl McHugh featured for the Well with the result bringing Hearts to within 2 points of Motherwell. The Well sit in 5th in the Scottish Premiership whilst Hearts are 1 place below in 6th.

Ross Hannah scored his 6th goal of the season as Chester City won 1-0 at home to 10 man Solihull Moors in the Conference. Hannah had only come off the bench only 12 minutes prior to his winner. The win has Chester sat in 21st, 3 points off safety, but a game in hand.

Mark Marshall and ex City striker Billy Clarke had a bit of a miserable day as Charlton Athletic lost 1-0 at home to Portsmouth which means Athletic are starting to lose a bit of ground on the top 3 who are now in 6th. Gareth Evans received a yellow but didn’t dampen things for the South Coast side which still sees Pompey in 7th keeping the pressure on the top 6. Charlton are 4 points behind Bradford City, whilst Pompey are trailing 7 points behind the Bantams, but Athletic do have a game in hand.

James Meredith helped Millwall keep a clean sheet away to promotion hopefuls Aston Villa in the Championship, the game resulting in a 0-0 draw. The point has the Lions sitting 7 points above the relegation zone in 17th place.

Nahki Wells may still be waiting to make his Burnley debut this season, but the Bermudan did find himself on the bench. Wells may not have made it onto the pitch, but he is inching closer to his Premiership debut. Burnley won 1-0 at home to Watford and what is one of the surprises of the season, the Lancastrian club find themselves in 7th in the Premiership after 16 games and at time of writing just 1 point off 4th placed Liverpool well into Sunday afternoon. Ex City youth member Tom Cleverley played for Watford who are now 9th in the Premiership.

Scott Loach had a day to forget as he let in 4 goals which meant Hartlepool United lost 4-0 away to Dover Athletic. The huge loss has Pool in 14th in the Conference, 7 points off the play offs and 10 points above the relegation spots.

Nathan Clarke helped provide a clean sheet as Grimsby Town won 1-0 at home to Forest Green Rovers. The ex City defender now sees his team sat in 11th in League 2, and what is surprising, are level on points with 7th placed Coventry City who occupy the final play off spot. Town are only 2 points off 5th and the final automatic promotion place of 3rd is only 5 points away.

Rory McArdle and Josh Morris had a tough weekend as Scunthorpe United lost 1-0 away to Walsall in League 1, which is good for Bradford City. The loss has dropped Scunny below Bradford city, falling down to 5th in the table. All is not lost for the Lincolnshire side as they still are only 3 points off the automatic places.
