Some Bradford fans might feel that the time is right for Oliver McBurnie to be given a go in the first-team but with the youngster still learning his trade Phil Parkinson would sooner send him out on loan.

Parkinson has always been keen on the youngster going out on loan, but he didn’t want to do this until another striker could be brought in on loan.

With Jon Stead returning for a second loan spell, which will take him through until the New Year, the boss now feels the time is right for him to go and get this football at another football league club, or perhaps more likely at non-league level.

The boss told the official website: ‘We feel the time is right to get Oli McBurnie out on loan.

‘We want to get him out there and playing some first team football. We feel the time is right. Whether it is at non-league level or somewhere else, he needs to move away and get a run of games.’

McBurnie will benefit, with Bradford benefiting ultimately, from some regular first-team to aide his development.

This will be better suited than bits and pieces from the bench, even though being involved in the matchday squads is good and his eight-appearances have benefited him with just two starts he needs more of them.

A spell away until January and then returning in the New Year makes sense I feel, don’t you?
