Valley Parade is the venue for David Coote to make his second appearance of the season after making his bow in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday evening in a 1-0 victory for Rotherham over Lincoln.

In all competitions it will be his 31st game in charge of a match. However, it will only be the second league match of his career as his four year tenure has generally been spent in the Conference.

That previous game was actually at Valley Parade and the Bantams ran out 1-0 victors what might have been Eddie Johnson’s last goal for the club in April 2008. As I remember it was a dreadful afternoon (can’t argue with the probability of that).

Port Vale have never had the pleasure of being looked after by Mr Coote and statistically it looks like it might be a better afternoon for the hosts than for our visitors, despite their impressive away start to the season.

43% of games end in a home victory, 30% in an away smash and grab and 27% in a draw.

Running the lines will be G Beswick and K D G Lawson whilst in the dugout will be A H Greenwood.
