What’s the story of the Men in Black?

Well, unfortunately I’m slightly concerned. As you would expect home victories tend to be the most likely outcome and the referee’s stats normally demonstrate a higher proportion of maximums for the hosts.

Tomorrow night’s referee, Chris Sarginson, will be taking charge of his 79 game but only 26 of those have ended in a home victory.

28 have ended in an away victory and 24 have drawn. So his statistics are fairly evenly poised but so far this season the two games that he’s officiated have ended in away victories, the most recent being Norwich’s win over Scunthorpe two weeks ago.

Nevertheless, Bradford City have a 100% record under his guidance, and not only that have always won by 2 clear goals. The matches in question include the 2-0 home victory over Grimsby in the 2008/09 season and the 3-1 away victory at Rochdale which was one of Peter Taylor’s first games in charge and he was also responsible for the 2-0 victory over Morecambe just before season’s end.

Preston have never played under his stewardship so it will be something of an unknown quantity for them.

Referee Sarginson will be assisted by K Hayward and O Yates on the flanks and M Dicicco in the dugout.
