Nigel Clough’s sacking by Sheff United on Monday had seen reports linking Phil Parkinson with the vacancy at Bramall Lane.

In fact the Bradford manager had, at one stage, been the early odds-on favourite to be handed the chance following his exploits with us but joint-chairman Mark Lawn has told the Telegraph & Argus that no approach had been made.

Not only had no approach been made, this wasn’t welcomed with him expected to remain our manager for ‘quite a few years’ yet with the bookies, whilst often right, wrong on this occasion.

‘Bookies are usually pretty good but I think they’ve got this one wrong because we haven’t been approached by Sheffield United at all.

‘Phil is still Bradford City manager and I expect him to be Bradford City manager come what may at the start of next season. I probably expect him to be in charge for quite a few years to come.’

Since them an approach has been made, and rejected with another Nigel, Nigel Atkins is believed to be the man that our League 1 rivals will now be turning too.
