Losing James Meredith to a long term injury was bad enough for Bradford, but then Kyel Reid added to the woes with his injury keeping him out for the season.

Meredith broke his foot recently with Reid sustaining a serious knee injury against Sheffield United last weekend that’s ended his season.

Both had been working well on the left hand side of the pitch and the loss is something that Phil Parkinson knows will be heavily felt, however he also knows that you’ve got to “get on with it”.

The boss told the official website: ‘To lose him and Mez clearly isn’t ideal. They have formed such a great partnership for us down that left-hand side, but we have to take it on the chin and look to bounce back.

‘It is clear those two have worked well together for us over the last 18 months or so. We’ve got to try and rectify that and make sure we are as effective down that side again.’

These injuries aren’t the only ones currently troubling the Bantams so the need for reinforcements is clear.

Parkinson is now “scoring the market” to see what he can do in the next week or so, but if he does bring anyone in they’ve got to be right for the club, and not just in a financial sense.

He added: ‘We need to look to address the holes in our squad caused by these injuries, especially down our left-hand side.

‘We are looking to recruit some more bodies into the squad, but it isn’t easy.

‘There are many things to factor in, not just finances. We are trying though.’
