Bradford’s loanee ‘keeper from Sunderland Jordan Pickford picked up an early sending off in our defeat to Rochdale last weekend, which saw us play the majority of that game with only 10-men.

His 13th minutes sending off saw us down to 10-men, even though the resulting penalty was missed the rebound was scored in a game that we eventually lost two-one at Valley Parade in injury-time….

The bigger picture would be that Pickford would of course serve a suspension.

Given that Phil Parkinson, and the club, felt that the sending off left us ‘hard done by’ anyway an appeal was planned, which the manager told the official website he was confident would be successfully won, but now with some ‘clarification’ of when the ban will be served we’ve decided not to.

Sunderland haven’t given Pickford permission to feature in the FA Cup and even though that means he couldn’t feature for us tonight anyway the FA have confirmed that his suspension will be for this replay and not our league 1 meeting with Yeovil this Saturday so appealing the 20-year-old suspension isn’t now going to happen.

Parkinson said: ‘We were confident of getting it overturned given the indications we had received over the weekend but there is no point appealing now once we knew Jordan would only miss the Millwall tie.’
