Bradford, and many another club of course, have successfully brought players in from non-league football before.

We’ll be hoping that our latest recruit from that level will do the business as well….

Lewis Clarkson has done enough with Scarborough Athletic since the summer to attract attention from football league clubs but we’ve been the club to win the race for his signature.

Will the teenager feature this season? I’m not sure if he will, but he’s definitely one for the future as our assistant boss Steve Parkin made clear.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: ‘He is one for the future. We felt, as a long-term project, he was worth the investment.

‘He can become a very dangerous player. He certainly has an eye for goal and that’s why we took him.’

Clarkson has been in the professional game previously as he was a youngster with Hull but they released him in the summer following their promotion to the premier league and he went on to join Scarborough Athletic.

The 19-year-old is worth a punt for me and will now be looking to make the most of his 18-month contract to prove he’s worthy of this, and more….
