Bradford’s League 1 season continued with a three-nil defeat to Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

A disappointing start to the New Year saw Bradford with it all to do with early goals from Bradley Dack and Rory Donnelly having Gillingham two-up in 11-minutes.

In the last minute Doug Loft added the third with Nathan Clarke, who had earlier come on, send off to round off an afternoon to forget for the Bantams as the promotion bid took another blow.

The above video shows the highlights from this game.

These were the other results.

Saturday 2nd January 2016
Barnsley 2-1 Millwall
Burton 1-0 Blackpool
Chesterfield 7-1 Shrewsbury
Crewe 0-5 Coventry
Fleetwood 2-0 Bury
Gillingham 3-0 Bradford
Oldham 1-1 Colchester
Port Vale P-P Swindon
Scunthorpe 1-1 Wigan
Sheff Utd 2-3 Peterborough
Southend 0-3 Doncaster
Walsall 0-3 Rochdale

You can’t look much further, when going through these results than the seven-one thrashing dished out by Chesterfield to Shrewsbury at the Proact Stadium with new boss Danny Wilson enjoying a great afternoon! Coventry were another high scoring winning side, keeping their promotion bid going with a five-nil win at struggling Crewe.

A good number of impressive three-nil wins with Gillingham, Doncaster and Walsall gaining the points by such winning margins over Bradford, Southend and Walsall, respectively.

Burton’s one-nil win over Blackpool, coupled with Walsall’s heavy (and surprise) defeat at the Banks’s Stadium saw the Brewers return to the top of the League 1 table with Gillingham’s win at Priestfield taking them up to 2nd.

Bradford are back in action at the weekend with an FA Cup tie at Bury.
