Phil Parkinson had moved to bring in Newcastle’s Jak Alnwick after Sunderland recalled ‘keeper Jordan Pickford from, what was meant to be, a season-long loan.

Sadly Alnwick’s season, and quite possibly Bradford career, ended after just one-match for us….

The Newcastle loanee took to Twitter ahead of our win at Doncaster to confirm that his wrist injury required surgery and that would mean it was ‘season over’ for him.

‘Unfortunately my season is over. On route to Manchester to get wrist surgery.’

Alnwick, who made his one and only appearance for us in our one-one draw at Meadow Lane against Notts County is now back with his Premier League parent club, although his contract does expire in the summer so maybe Parkinson could revisit this situation?

By all accounts though the young ‘keeper, who will leave St James’ Park, is said to have plenty of offers both at home and abroad with a move into Dutch football quite possible!

Matt Urwin will act as understudy to Ben Williams for the remainder of the season.
