How To Please a Bantam

Another defeat at home. Another poor performance. Added to a back to back defeat, means a poor Christmas for McCall and crew. What adds that insult to injury? Fans turning on him.

Damned if we do, damned if we don’t

McCall has often had it in his ear that Nicky Law shouldn’t be out on the wing and his place, if in the team at all, should be in the middle. That being said, he was unlikely to drop Reeves or Vincelot given recent form and fortunes. Reeves was hauled off against AFC Wimbledon and didn’t appear to be a happy man as he left the field; and he was absent from the starting line up against Peterborough. Tactical? Carrying a Knock? Who knows, but either way Bradford fans got their way. Law was drafted into the middle, Robinson was used as an out and out Left winger and Gilliead on the other side.

So 2 things the fans had screamed out for was 2 wingers and Law to be put into the middle. Did it change our fortunes? Nope. Same old City.
Fans are calling for McCall’s head already. But is this just fan frustration or do they genuinely believe there is a better Manager out there for us?

Pick out the positives

With Alex Jones out injured and news that Poleon is out until the New Year means a continued partnership up front for Wyke and Taylor. Whilst the former hasn’t put his price tag up, Taylor has certainly left his mark. Whilst his overall performances may not have been the best in the league, he is still scoring goals. The old adage of ‘if you can score when you don’t play well..’, certainly fits Taylor and 2 in 2 is proof he can do it.

Is this just a blip, is this the ‘same old Bradford’ I called out in an earlier article or are we in for a genuine slump towards the second half of the season?
