Andy Gray’s second spell with Bradford was going to end this season anyway, however this came to an end ahead of schedule.

The veteran strikers contract at Valley Parade was set to expire this summer but a mutually agreed deal between Gray and the club saw this deal cancelled with immediate effect on Wednesday evening.

In a little under 15-months with the club, re-signed in January 2013, the 36-year-old managed to make 16 appearances in his second spell with the Bantams notching his one, and only, goal this season against Peterborough United back in December.

Shingles has left the former Scottish international laid low in recent week with an unlikely return to the first-team secured for brief periods as this campaign unfolded.

His release could well signal the end to his playing career?
