Jason Kennedy was one of those that Phil Parkinson brought in during the summer.

At present the midfielder has found it difficult to break into the Bradford squad, let alone the starting XI!

The weekend saw the former Rochdale man (who played regularly for them before coming to Valley Parade) finally make his league debut for us when he came on at the weekend.

Kennedy’s only previous outings had been in the cup and this had left some thinking that perhaps he could go the same way as another summer signing Matt Taylor, who has been allowed to join Colchester on loan having struggled to make an impact with the Bantams.

Unlike Taylor though Kennedy had a good pre-season so he’ll not be going out like the former Charlton man has with Parkinson viewing this loan spell with the U’s as his chance to do that so Kennedy won’t follow him…

Asked if this was an option, Parkinson told the Telegraph & Argus: ‘Not really. It’s a different scenario with Jason.

‘Matty just hadn’t played any games at all when he came here. Jason had his quota of matches with us in pre-season.

‘This is effectively Matty`s pre-season now with Colchester.’

With those ahead of him playing so well it’s going to be tough for Kennedy, however I’m sure he understands the situation.

Having got that taste of first team football (in league two) under his belt he’ll want more of this but if it doesn’t come I wouldn’t be surprised to see a change of heart from Parky perhaps a little further down the line as he’ll need to be playing…
