Lewis Clarkson came to an agreement with Bradford ahead of our weekend fixture that allowed him to leave the club earlier.

Clarkson would have been out of contract at the end of the season anyway but with his chances limited at the moment, and likely to remain that way, it was decided by all concerned that moving on now was the best thing so his contract was ended by mutual consent.

With the youngster career at a stage where he needs regular first-team football Phil Parkinson’s told the official website that he couldn’t offer this so it was best for all that he moved on, with him of course wishing him well in his next venture….

Parkinson said: ‘There are currently one or two options out there for Lewis and we felt it was best for him to go and see if he could find first team football elsewhere.

‘At this stage in his career, Lewis needs to be playing regularly. We wish him all the best for the future.’

Given his form in pre-season it looked like Clarkson could have a role to play but a hamstring problem hasn’t helped him with him not featuring this season, making just one appearance from the bench last term too.
