Billy Clarke is poised to leave Bradford in order to join League One rivals Charlton.

A brief report in the Telegraph & Argus said sources had confirmed the Bradford forward is expected in South London to undergo a medical today with a two year deal then signed, assuming he comes through, as expected, this successfully.

Cork-born Clarke, 29, is under contract at Valley Parade for another year so Bradford will receive a fee, so far undisclosed, for the forward. The money presented has apparently proven enough to tempt City into accepting Charlton’s offer.

Stuart McCall did add to his attacking options in January so Clarke’s first team place wouldn’t be certain next season. A fee for a player who could walk away for nothing in 12 months time is probably the best thing all-round as it’ll free up his wages and allows the boss to use that fee on squad reinforcements.
