Phil Parkinson’s men entered the match with Rochdale in good sprits with a Boxing day win and Cup fever around Valley parade.

Rochdale came with only one win in 6, many thought a home win was a strong possibility.

However 6 Minutes in it became apparent that Rochdale had coming looking to return back over the pennines with 3 points. Terry Gornell the Vital Bradford Player to watch for Dale fired them into the lead with a right shot effort past Duke and into the roof of the net.

Bradford equalised with a penalty in the 20th minute when striker Alan Connell was pushed in the back by Ryan Edwards as he tried to reach Kyel Reid’s cross and Connell, himself scored from the spot.

Four goals thirteen first half minutes would follow. Rochdale went into a 3-1 lead with goals from Ashley Tutte in the 28th minute a 20 yard shot skidded past Duke. Ashley Grimes scored the third Dale goal in the 32nd minute, firing home from 10 yards after Ryan Edwards headed the ball back into the goalmouth.

Another penalty from Connell pulled the Bantams back to only a goal behind in the 36th minute. However a Terry Gornell header just before the break sent Rochdale in leading 4-2 at the break.

Bradford worked hard in the second half to find a route back into the match, however the resolute Dale defence and missing leading scorer Nahki Wells it was a bridge too far for the Bantams.

Morecambe on New Years Day……. Lets the the promotion Band Wagon rolling again!
