It seems that Phil Parkinson is looking at strengthening the goalkeeping position at Bradford perhaps?

Since Matt Duke left in the summer we’ve only had Jon McLaughlin to depend on, however we’ve had Middlesborough’s Connor Ripley in on loan to act as cover for him of course.

Unfortunately for Ripley his outing for us this season, in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy I think (or was it the league cup?) resulted in us being resoundingly beaten, which in many ways was no reflection on him but an unfortunate coincidence for him nonetheless.

Reports in the Bournemouth Echo have said that we’ve had their ‘keeper Shwan Jalal training with us this week.

Jalal, previously a regular at Dean Court, has found himself now well down the pecking order with the championship side, finding himself fourth choice behind Lee Camp, Ryan Allsop and Darryl Flahavan.

He was on loan with Oxford earlier in the season but didn’t make an appearance and did get recalled to act as cover when they lost Allsop to suspension following his sending off in a league game.

He’s a decent ‘keeper with plenty of experience, and at 30 is still relatively young for a goalie really isn’t he so if the price is right (and it’s thought he’ll be allowed to leave the Cherries in the New Year) perhaps this is something that could come about to add greater strength in the goalkeeping department at Valley Parade?
