Bradford’s League 1 season continued with a draw against Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday.

That first win still hasn’t come Bradford’s way, however the point at Barnsley in the nil-nil draw will be one the Bantams will be happier with you feel as the away side.

A winner almost went Barnsley’s way in injury-time with Williams beaten, after some earlier saves, by Watkins but his effort came back off the frame of the goal.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 22nd August
Barnsley 0 – 0 Bradford
Burton Alb 2 – 1 Peterboro
Chesterfld 0 – 0 Rochdale
Crewe 3 – 3 Bury
Fleetwood 4 – 0 Colchester
Gillingham 2 – 0 Wigan
Oldham 1 – 1 Shrewsbury
Port Vale 3 – 0 Doncaster
Scunthorpe 0 – 0 Millwall
Sheff Utd 2 – 0 Blackpool
Southend 0 – 1 Swindon
Walsall 2 – 1 Coventry

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Burton, Fleetwood, Port Vale and Walsall, a six-goal thriller at Crewe wouldn’t have been short of entertainment either!

Burton, of course, were in League 2 last season but they’ve made the transition into League 1 relatively seamlessly so Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side ‘could’ feel that having made it to this level for the first time back-to-back promotions could be on, and seeing off one of those expected to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season was a good result, albeit at the Pirelli Stadium.

Fleetwood’s win against Colchester wasn’t ‘a surprise’ as such was it, they arguably would have been favourites to win that at the Highbury Stadium but a four-nil win over the U’s was still a good win with the Cod Army looking like they’re now finding a rhythm.

Walsall, I’m pretty sure, had won in the midweek prior to beat someone – I can’t for the life of me think who?! – they might not have been expected to with the win at the Bescot against a Coventry side flying so far is a really good two-one win.

As for a ‘six-goal thriller’ at Gresty Road, Bury are certainly involved in some high scoring games so far this season! Was this three-all draw better for Crewe or the Shakers? Who knows, but a neutral would have loved it!

The Bantams are back in action this weekend with a League 1 game against Port Vale at Valley Parade.
