With exactly a month to go now to Christmas Day since the weekend’s games, did anyone have an early present? Or a lump of coal in their stocking?

Phil Parkinson’s Bolton Wanderers came crashing back down to earth with their first loss since September, an outstanding 8 games ago. The 5-1 loss away to table toppers Wolverhampton Wanderers has put Parkinson’s Bolton back to the bottom of the Championship, 3 points off safety.

Josh Morris scored a brace as Scunthorpe United won 2-0 at home to Charlton Athletic. Rory McArdle helped keep a clean sheet as Morris saw his 7th and 8th goals of the season go in. Mark Marshall started for Athletic being subbed on 85 minutes. Iron are now 3rd in League 1, 2 points off automatic promotion and 4 off top place and sit 2 points clear of City. Athletic drop to 6th 5 points above 7th and 2 below City, but do have 2 games in hand over some of the teams around them.

Jon McLaughlin earned Hearts their first clean sheet in a 0-0 draw in the Scottish Premiership home to Ross County. Andrew Davies was taken off due to an injury just before half time. Hearts sees themselves 7th in the table and Ross Co. 9th. Christopher Routis played the full 90 minutes for the visitors.

Garry Thompson brought the game level in the 2nd half only 7 minutes after coming on in the 2nd half as Morecambe drew 1-1 away to Carlisle United. Thompson has now found the net 4 times this season with the point leaving Morecambe in 19th in League 2, only 2 points above relegation. Kevin Ellison failed to add to his tally of 5 whilst Gary Liddle was making his 21st appearance this season for the home side which has the Cumbrians in 12th.

Wes Thomas pulled Oxford United back with his 8th goal of the season only 3 minutes after Simon Eastwood conceded the first goal of the game on 19 minutes away to Southend United. The result ending 1-1. The Us lie in 9th, 7 points off the play offs.

Brad Jones earned Feyenoord their first clean sheet in 9 games. The current Dutch Eredivisie champions won away 0-2 at FC Groningen and are now 5th in the table a huge 11 points behind top spot and having played a game more.

Marc McNulty slotted in his 6th of the season for Coventry as they drew 1-1 at home to Crawley in League 2. The point placed the Sky Blues 6th in the table.

Francois Zoko scored the 3rd goal in a 2-1 loss as Yeovil Town went home empty handed from Wycombe Wanderers. Zoko now has 7 to his name this season whilst Yeovil are 3 points above relegation in League 2 in 18th place.

James Hanson was an unused sub as Sheffield United drew 1-1 at home to lowly Birmingham City. Hanson came on earlier in the week in the home 4-5 home loss against Fulham, the score was 2-4 at the time of his inclusion. Chris Wilder’s blades now find themselves 3rd in the Championship equal on points to 2nd placed Cardiff but having played a game more and a goal difference of 1 in Cardiff’s favour.

Alan Sheehan helped Luton town to a 1-2 away win at Crewe Alexander with the Hatters top of League 2 due to a much superior goal difference. Chris Dagnall has now failed to find the net for 2 months for the home side, seeing the Railwaymen 19th and 3 points above relegation.
