Bradford have followed up the addition of Dominic Poleon from AFC Wimbledon earlier in the week with the signing of Northern Ireland international Shay McCartan from Accrington Stanley.

With all due respect, an arrival from Accrington might not sound the most glamorous or inspiring of arrivals, but Bradford bring in a player who showed enough ability last season to score 11 goals for the League Two side to bring the former Burnley youngster his first involvement at international level.

No longer a pushover they once were, having some good attacking options, Northern Ireland handed McCartan his debut against New Zealand last month.

McCartan, 23, who had been described as a ‘free-kick and set-piece specialist’ and ‘much sought after’, has signed a three year contract at Bradford coming to Valley Parade for an undisclosed amount, confirmed as a six figure fee.
